Minnesota-born Pisces. Talker, writer, meddler, song-maker, story-bender. Enthusiastic collaborator. Seasoned traveler. Registered voter. Sleep-deprived parent. Media glutton. Myers-Briggs anomaly. Adept and adaptive.
I've been earning a living by way of laptops, keys, microphones, instruments, stories, questions, insights, copy, verse, long drives, short menus, and a famously even temper since Bill Clinton's second term. Jumped from college into journalism, collected a pile of W-2s and 1099s as a writer/editor for the likes of The Onion A.V. Club, Utne Reader, MSNBC, E! Online, Salon, MTV.com, City Pages, and Minnesota Monthly. Toured all over the United States and Europe as both a musician (mostly with Halloween, Alaska) and a production manager (mostly with The Bad Plus). Made custom songs for movie studios, toy makers, and dance companies. Trained as a voiceover talent in 2010 and started talking in service of brands, audiobook publishers, indie filmmakers, and esoteric art projects. Logged a few years with Golin on the media team for Nintendo of America and learned too much about motion control, Mario, and Pokémon. Joined the creative department at Zeus Jones and fought in the trenches of purposeful modern branding. Set up a digital pillow fort with the intrepid experimenters and techies at GoKart Labs, then rode along through an acquisition by West Monroe Partners, where I led people and projects in experience design, user research, and brand strategy.
Currently based in the Twin Cities metro, with previous addresses in Chicagoland, the United Kingdom, West Hollywood, rural Greece, and the capital of Wisconsin. Always happy to connect and conspire — HMU.
